Cancun Round Two!

I hit the skies for a Labor Day celebration from Dallas to Cancun just two short months after my first trip out for another intimate Mexico wedding. This time, we stayed at Valentin Maya, a part of Quintana Roo, with massive pools, plenty of lizards, and miles of jungle.

Valentin Maya is a resort on the larger side, a massive main pool and a lazy river that connects to the swim out rooms. It's a lot of walking, so be prepared if you're the type that likes to relax on vacation--although they do have carts that you can schedule for pickup if you need to go somewhere. Now, about the food. Valentin Maya had really good lunch and dinner options. You have two choices for breakfast, either a buffet with some air conditioning, or a beachside restaurant with the wave sounds as background music.

As far as ceremony sites go, they have more options than some places I've seen! There are two different beach sites to choose from, an enclosed chapel in the case of rain or for the Catholic faith, and lastly, a gazebo, where Ariel & Kevin chose. The gazebo has an ancient Mayan feel to it, with the tiled floors and warm neutral clay colors. It's not completely enclosed so we did get wet when the rain shower came over, but it came as quickly as it went. Prepare to be surrounded by lush greens and neat architecture. After the ceremony, Ariel & Kevin had a surprise mariachi band that serenaded them into the cocktail space. This was my second time having a live mariachi band present at a wedding I've photographed and I loved every second of it. If you're looking to connect with the culture on your wedding day, I absolutely recommend.

All in all, this was a trip for the books and I would absolutely go back. Thinking about booking Valentin Maya for your wedding? I'd love to be there. View their full gallery here: https://joliviaphotography.pixieset.com/arielandkevin/
